School Phases Intermediate Phase

Intermediate Phase (Grades 4-6)

  • We strictly follow the CAPS (Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement), maintaining the same cognitive levels of content and assessment as mainstream Western Cape schools.
  • The format of content presentation is strategically adapted to meet the individual learning needs of learners with physical and learning disabilities.
  • Every learner benefits from an individual support plan (ISP) and an academic support plan, which is  revised at least once per term to ensure optimal progress.
  • All assessment accommodations (e.g., reader, writer, prompter) are available to learners in Grades 4–6 to minimize the impact of learning barriers.
  • Learners are supported in using technology to overcome barriers. Where technology is not suitable, well-trained, dedicated assessment accommodation providers assist learners.
  • Classes are limited to 14 learners, allowing for intensive individual attention, targeted strategies, and focused support.
  • A multidisciplinary team (therapists, psychologists, etc.) collaborates closely to promote overall well-being, maturity, and academic growth.
  • Participation is encouraged in both general and adapted sports (e.g., boccia, table tennis) to ensure physical activity and school engagement for all learners.
