Candidates
Learners who experience problems with speech, language and auditory perception.
Therapeutic intervention
- Individual speech – language therapy focussing on the following:
- Language
- Auditory perception
- Stuttering
- Aphasia
- Dysarthria
- Apraxia
- Phonology and articulation
- Hearing tests, referrals and rehabilitation
- Language therapy in small groups in order to remediate language problems and delays
- Phonological Awareness Program to stimulate auditory skills
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication
- Feeding therapy
- Home programs
Evaluation
The speech therapist is part of the multi-disciplinary team who evaluates learners regarding all aspects of communication, namely:
- Oral Motor Function
- Speech
- Language
- Auditory processing
- Hearing and middle ear function
