Candidates

Learners who experience problems with speech, language and auditory perception.

Therapeutic intervention

  • Individual speech – language therapy focussing on the following:
    • Language
    • Auditory perception
    • Stuttering
    • Aphasia
    • Dysarthria
    • Apraxia
    • Phonology and articulation
  • Hearing tests, referrals and rehabilitation
  • Language therapy in small groups in order to remediate language problems and delays
  • Phonological Awareness Program to stimulate auditory skills
  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication
  • Feeding therapy
  • Home programs

Evaluation

The speech therapist is part of the multi-disciplinary team who evaluates learners regarding all aspects of communication, namely:

  • Oral Motor Function
  • Speech
  • Language
  • Auditory processing
  • Hearing and middle ear function
