Leerondersteuning

Leerprobleme en leeragterstande beïnvloed die kind in sy totale menswees en veroorsaak ‘n gebrek aan selfvertroue en ‘n lae selfbeeld. Leerondersteuning bied aan dié leerders die geleentheid om tot hulle volle potensiaal te ontwikkel deur hulle op skolastiese vlak te ondersteun en agterstande in te haal.

By Paarl-Skool sluit dit die volgende dienste in:

Assessering

Die leerondersteuner vorm deel van die evaluasiespan en werk in spanverband saam met die ander dissiplines ten einde die leerder se spesifieke probleme te identifiseer. Daar word bepaal watter leerdoelwitte reeds bereik is en effektiewe hulpverlening word beplan ten einde die leerder in staat te stel om spesifieke leerdoelwitte volgens sy unieke leerstyl te bereik.

TIPS

Hulp word in groepsverband aan klasgroepe verleen. Daar word gefokus op die ontwikkeling van taal-, lees- en skryfvaardighede en skolastiese probleme wat algemeen by die integrasie van gesproke en geskrewe taal voorkom.

Ouditiewe Hulp

Die leerinhoud van die verskillende leerareas word op CD of band aangebied om leerders wat ernstige leesprobleme ondervind, te ondersteun.

Amanuense

Transkribering word gedurende skriftelike take aangebied aan leerders wat probleme ondervind met lees,  die skriftelike weergawe van taal of ernstige skryf- en spellingprobleme het.

Remediërende Onderrig

Leerders wat deur faktore óf binne hulself óf omgewingsfaktore ‘n agterstand in skolastiese vaardighede ondervind, kwalifiseer vir remediërende onderrig. Waar leerders unieke benaderings vereis, word hulle individueel gesien. Waar leerders ooreenkomstige probleme met dieselfde vaardigheid ondervind, bv. taal, lees, spelling of syferkundigheid word dit in groepsverband aangespreek.

Studiemetodes

Leerders word gehelp om volgens hulle eie leerstyle metodes aan te leer om inligting wat verwerf is suksesvol weer te gee.

Learning Support

Learning problems and learning deficits influence the whole being of a child. This can result in a lack of self-confidence and a low self-esteem. Through Learning Support these learners are given the opportunity to reach their full potential by providing scholastic support to overcome deficits.

At Paarl School this includes the following services:

Assessment

The Learning Support Teacher is part of the evaluation team and collaborates with the other disciplines to identify specific problems a learner may experience. They establish which learning goals have already been achieved and plan effective support to enable the learner to achieve specific learning objectives according to his / her unique learning style.

TIPS

Group therapy is used to render assistance to whole class groups. The focus is on the development of language, reading and writing skills and scholastic problems commonly experienced with the integration of oral and written work.

Auditory Aid

Presenting the learning contents of the different learning areas on CD or tape supports learners with serious reading problems.

Amanuensis

Learners experiencing problems regarding reading, written language, as well as those with serious writing and spelling problems, receive help in the form of transcribing during tasks requiring written work.

Remedial Teaching

Learners who qualify for Remedial Teaching are those who experience a deficit in scholastic skills due to factors within themselves or environmental factors. Those learners requiring a unique approach are seen individually. Learners who experience similar problems with the same skills, e.g. language, reading, spelling and numeracy, are seen in groups.

Study methods

Learners are helped to acquire methods to successfully reproduce information according to their unique learning styles.
