Background | Admission
Learners who are admitted to Paarl School mainly consist of three groups:
- Learners with cerebral palsy – a permanent disability affecting posture and movement as a result of damage to the developing brain.
- Learners with a physical disability – e.g. muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and syndromes caused by genetic deviation, as well as learners who suffered closed head injuries in e.g. motor vehicle accidents.
- Learners with specific learning disabilities – learners with average to above average intellectual potential who experience perceptual problems and underachieve in the areas of reading, spelling and mathematics.
